In this far reaching anthology, nurses speak about the joys and challenges of their chosen careers. Reflecting on their experiences as nurses, Sallie Tisdale, Judy Schaefer, Elizabeth Tibbetts and a host of other talented writers draw from different experiences to speak openly and compassionately about their decision to become nurses and, in some instances, to leave the profession. Join us as co-editor Gerry Gorman introduces the anthology and local contributors read from the collection.

Paula Sergi Teaching Creative Writing in various classrooms in the Fond du Lac School District.

“Helping students find an authentic voice through poetry” is a creative writing workshop supported by a grant submitted by the Fond du Lac School District in partnership with Paula Sergi. The writing workshop, inspired by Sergi’s participation in a local initiative called Voices of War, addresses the nature of conflict, and is directed towards conflict resolution, and philosophical, racial and cultural diversity. A natural extension is the study of war, making it a timely complement to social studies and history classes.

The successful grant was awarded by the Sophia Foundation, whose goals include making “charitable grants to enable human beings to become more caring people in their work and in their lives in the way individuals relate to one another locally, nationally and globally.”
